Best of 2022 - A studio year in review

It’s the end of the year and, for me, it’s my favorite time to reflect on my favorite moments of 2022!

This year I felt like I was able to hone my craft even more and truly focus on the types of photography and clients that I love to work with.

One area that I focused the most on was taking a traditional headshot and making it into a work of art; taking my love of portraiture and spinning it towards a more modern feel.

Making headshots into portraits…

I love the challenge of trying something different! I want to dispel the mindset that headshots have to be so stoic, stiff, and serious. If you’re using headshots for work, then truly sell the person and story of the person that you are.

If you’re coming into the studio, use this time for yourself and capturing the dynamic of who you are. Because I believe that you are way more interesting than a basic image on LinkedIn. :)

Modern Corporate and Group Headshots…

This year I ventured out of the studio a bit and went into different businesses across the lowcountry with my backdrop and light setup and photographed modern, corporate headshots on site. It is a super simple way for a company to update their employee photos with consistent coloring, tone, brand, and mood in mind. I’m a big proponent of updating your headshots every three years and love that businesses in Hilton Head, Bluffton, and Savannah all think the same way.

Here’s a little peek at a favorite corporate on site headshot session for the Interluxe Group!

Senior Photos as modern, not trendy…

The kind of high school senior that comes into the studio is one that’s concerned with creativity and class, not trends. So, I have loved organizing my efforts to show off these students in a way that looks COMPLETELY different than their yearbook photo and their fellow classmates’ beach photo sessions.

Branding Shoots…

As a business owner, I truly love taking photos for other businesses and brands. This year I was able to work with all of my favorite recurring clients over the years and the time with each of them was more than inspiring!

AND, my NEW STUDIO!!

Ever since I first started photographing studio photography, I knew I wanted a space somewhere in Old Town Bluffton. And this year, through MUCH prayer and incredible friendships and business relationships, it finally happened! I am now located above May River Excursions at 81 Calhoun Street in downtown Bluffton. Yahoo!!!

Thank you…

Thank you for believing in me, trusting me to capture your life, investing in beautiful images, and helping me open my brand new studio space! Cheers to 2023 and book a session in the new year! :)
