Letting your authentic self be the frontrunner of your maternity photo session

Authentic & Empowering

The goal of my photography work is for my images to not only be modern & timeless, but most importantly for the people in them to feel empowered and their most authentic self.

Being pregnant can feel so foreign, almost like you are viewing what you once knew of yourself and your body from up in a cloud. I get it all too well. There’s a life growing inside of you, fed and nurtured by you and sustained by you. But what about YOU? Who are YOU amidst this transformation of body, mind, and heart?

Might I argue that you’re still you inside? While your outside feels completely out of whack, you are still in there in the core. I have personally found that becoming a mother is a transformative process. The transformation begins at the foundation of who you were when you became pregnant and develops you minute by minute, day by day.

Becoming a mother leaves no woman as it found her. It unravels her and rebuilds her. It cracks her open, takes her to her edges. It’s both beautiful and brutal; often at the same time.

So when it comes to maternity photos, I want to document the woman you are right now. The woman you are - in all of your past mistakes and joys and growth, your current excitement and doubts and curiosities, and your future hopes and even uncertainties. I desire for these photos to show YOU as you become a mother of either your first baby or your fourth or fifth.

Within pregnancy, your identity as a woman is not lost, it is very real and authentically present. Might I encourage you to embrace this transformation in the best way that you can, allowing yourself to be open to motherhood molding you.

Maternity photos are a beautiful way to celebrate and capture this powerful and meaningful transformation and I’m honored to capture your journey.

As women, we long for our inner expression not only to be seen, but to be felt; to be documented and captured, celebrated and admired. We see women on the covers of magazines, and we can feel their expression through thousands of pixels printed on pages. It’s fascinating, we can sense the part of their soul that was captured in that very moment. They exude strength, power, vulnerability, joy, romance….confidence.
