Empowering headshots for a female-led brand

I get SO excited and giddy when clients like Hannah and Alex contact me to update their branding and headshot photos! Especially when they are a female run business with a modern and fun style, making quite a powerful ripple in the marketplace.

This is Hannah and Alex of Full Umbrella and here is how we planned and photographed their branding/headshot session to give them the most useful and easy-to-use photos for their brand.

Clear Direction and Focus

They were clear in how they wanted to use their images: Linkedin, on their website, photos to send ahead of speaking engagements, and general concepts to be sent out to clients and partners.

Knowing their audience

Hannah and Alex knew they wanted to come across as professional in their headshots, but also approachable and knowledgeable in their industry.

Outfits Tailored to Personality

They each brought two outfits that emulated their personalities and also how they wanted to be perceived by their clients.

  • A suit and blazer to show a professional and crisp look.

  • A more casual look to show an approachable and personal side.

What I loved about their outfit choices is how they not only highlighted their own individual style, but also blended with each other’s looks as well.

For example, Alex wore a blazer with jeans for her more professional look that also complemented Hannah’s casual look with a black t-shirt and jeans. And Hannah’s gem toned suit worked so well next to the headshots of Alex in her all black casual outfit.

Black and Whites for Depth and Classic Representation

As a portrait photographer, my love for black and white images just come with the territory. :) So for most portrait sessions that I photograph, I also like throwing in a couple of two-toned photos that can be used anywhere and for anything without worrying about the color of clothes or the backdrop.

Black and white images are not only classic, but can also give off a super modern vibe and tone.

Also, Is There Anything Better Than a Modern Suit?

Oh yes, actually there is….A modern and tailored suit set is better than anything in the world. Haha!

The gem tone color was on point, the fit was tailor made for Hannah, and the style was modern for today but classic for decades.
